Hotel recommendation in Tenerife: Vilaflor
We stayed at Hotel Spa Villalba in Vilaflor, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations.
Let me tell you why:
First of all, we arrived late—around 11 PM—and despite the hour, the staff kindly prepared an amazing dinner for us. It was such a warm and wonderful way to start our stay! The rooms are built in a charming, old-fashioned style that I absolutely loved. They were super comfy, incredibly quiet, and I had one of the best sleeps ever.
We opted for full board, and let me just say—the food here is out of this world. Breakfast was fantastic; they had a menu where they prepared the most perfect eggs Benedict -my favorite!, along with a buffet where you could pick and eat as much as you wanted. Dinner was a treat, with a delicious starter, main course, and dessert every night. Everything we ate was simply incredible.
After a day of hiking, the spa area was the perfect place to relax. Some rooms, like ours, even have their own jacuzzi! Starting the morning with a soak on the balcony was such a luxurious touch.
On top of all this, the staff’s hospitality was unmatched. They were so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay special.
If you’re ever visiting Tenerife, I can’t recommend Hotel Spa Villalba enough—it’s an unforgettable experience!
🏙️ La Laguna: Culture, History, & Proximity to Nature
We were near this lovely village called Tacoronte, which I really enjoyed! It’s super peaceful and has that authentic, local charm. The food in the local restaurants was fantastic – so fresh, with lots of traditional Canarian dishes. The village is small, though, so there’s not a lot to do directly in Tacoronte itself.
That’s why I’d actually recommend staying in La Laguna instead. It’s super close to Tacoronte -just a short drive, and it has a lot more to offer in terms of things to do. La Laguna is full of character – with its historic buildings, colorful streets, and a really lively, local atmosphere. There are great places to eat, cute cafés, and even more cultural attractions to explore.
The best part is that La Laguna is really close to Anaga National Park, so if you’re into hiking or nature, you can easily head out for daily adventures.
💥 Pro Tip: Don’t miss out on the traditional Canarian dishes—La Laguna is home to some of the best local restaurants in Tenerife.
🏖️ Los Gigantes: A Peaceful Retreat with Stunning Views
If you're looking for a peaceful and beautiful spot in Tenerife, Los Gigantes is a great choice. This small town, with its stunning cliffs and relaxed vibe, is perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy nature without the hustle and bustle. The cliffs, known as Los Gigantes, are absolutely breathtaking, and if you're into hiking, you’ll love the nearby Teno Rural Park. There’s also Arena Beach, a lovely spot for a chill day by the sea. The town itself is charming, with a cozy marina and plenty of local restaurants serving fresh seafood. It’s a quieter alternative to the more touristy areas, but still close to cool places like Masca and Santiago del Teide.
🌴 Final Thoughts on Where to Stay in Tenerife
One of the best things about Tenerife is how diverse the island is, and the great news is you don’t have to choose just one place to stay!
We always recommend exploring different locations as you move across the island. Whether you’re waking up to breathtaking views of Teide National Park in Vilaflor, learning the culture and history in La Laguna, or enjoying the coastal vibes in Los Gigantes, the flexibility of staying in various spots makes the most of your Tenerife experience.
Tenerife is a place that invites exploration—so mix things up, stay a few nights in different locations, and let the island’s diverse landscapes, cultures, and experiences surprise you. With so much to see and do, moving around not only lets you discover hidden gems but also gives you the chance to enjoy both tranquil retreats and lively, bustling destinations.
