😎 Day 1: Exploring Teide National Park– A Must-See Tenerife Attraction
On your first day in Tenerife, head straight for Teide National Park, and trust me, the road to get there is an adventure in itself! The drive is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views of the island and its surrounding landscapes. If you're staying in Vilaflore, like we did, it will only take you about 45 minutes to reach the park, making it an easy and scenic start to your day of exploring.

Hiking in 📍Teide National Park is a must, and the best part is that there are so many trail options, whether you're a beginner or an experienced hiker. I recommend starting with two hikes to kick off your adventure.
The first hike you should try is a warm-up walk around Rochas de García, a short and easy trail that takes you through incredible volcanic rock formations. It will take you about an hour to complete, and you can take it slow to snap some photos along the way.
Once you're ready to push yourself, opt for a hike up 📍Mount Guajara, the third-highest peak on the island (after Teide and Pico Viejo). This trail is a bit more challenging, but the views are totally worth it. The hike will take you up to one of the highest points in the park, and from there, you’ll be treated to some of the most amazing views of Tenerife.
💥 Pro tip: Mount Guajara is a volcano, just like the rest of Tenerife, and it has a large crater near the summit. You can access the highest point by taking a trail from the northern end of the crater. It’s a steep climb, but once you reach the top, the panoramic views make it all worthwhile. If you’re up for a real challenge, this hike should definitely be on your list.
After a day of hiking and exploring, you’ll be ready to head back to Vilaflore to relax for the evening.
😎 Day 2: Discover Barranco del Infierno & Los Gigantes Cliffs
On your second day in Tenerife, head out to explore more of the island’s natural beauty. Start your day with a hike in 📍Barranco del Infierno, a stunning canyon near Adeje. This trail is quite manageable and suitable for all levels. As you walk through the lush landscapes, you'll eventually reach a hidden waterfall—one of the many hidden gems in Tenerife. Just remember to book your entry in advance, as it’s limited, and the cost is around €13.

Once you’ve finished your hike, head over to 📍Los Gigantes to see the famous cliffs. These towering rock formations rise up to 600 meters above the ocean, and they’re just breathtaking. You can admire the view from the town, but if you want a really unforgettable experience, hop on a boat tour.
To wrap up your day, take a dip in the 📍natural pools in Los Gigantes. These volcanic pools are the perfect place to relax and cool off after a day of hiking and sightseeing.
After all that exploring, I’d suggest staying around Los Gigantes for the night. It’s a beautiful and peaceful area, with plenty of great places to eat and relax.
😎 Day 3: Masca Village & Garachico – Hidden Gems of Tenerife
Start your third day in Tenerife with a visit to 📍Masca Village, one of the island’s most picturesque spots. The village is tucked away in a dramatic valley, offering stunning views and a charming atmosphere.
There's a famous hike from Masca to the beach, but I decided to skip it after reading some reviews that labeled it a bit of a tourist trap. It requires a permit (which costs around €30), and the trail can get very crowded. If you’re still up for some hiking, though, there are plenty of other fantastic trails nearby. I recommend using the AllTrails app to find the best treks for your level and interests.
After Masca, I suggest taking a break and visiting 📍Charco Los Chocos, a lovely natural pool. You can even take a short coastal walk around the area to stretch your legs and enjoy the beautiful ocean views.
Next, head over to 📍Garachico, a charming town with a rich history. Garachico was hit hard by a volcanic eruption in 1706, which destroyed much of the town. However, today you can still see traces of the eruption, especially around the town’s natural pools, formed by volcanic lava.
Finally, make your way to Puerto de la Cruz for the night. Before you settle in, I highly recommend checking out 📍Playa Castro, a hidden gem of a beach that’s perfect for watching the sunset.
😎 Day 4: Punta del Hidalgo Hike
Get ready for one of the most challenging hikes on the island! Start your morning early and head to 📍Punta del Hidalgo, where you'll find a trail that’s not for the faint-hearted. For me, it was by far the toughest hike I did in Tenerife, but the views and the experience made it completely worth it.
The hike we did was from Punta del Hidalgo to Chiminada, covering about 9 km with a 600-meter elevation gain. The first part of the trail is a tough uphill climb, and you’ll be going up for around 3 hours straight to reach Chiminada. Once you get to the top, there's a lovely restaurant where you can take a break and enjoy the view, which feels like a big reward after the tough climb.
This is definitely not a walk in the park, so make sure you’re prepared. I highly recommend bringing plenty of water, wearing proper hiking boots, and being ready for a real challenge. But don’t let that scare you—if you’re up for it, this hike will provide some of the most rewarding views and a real sense of accomplishment.
After around 5 hours of hiking, you’ll be ready to relax and cool off. Fortunately, there’s a natural swimming pool nearby where you can take a refreshing dip after the tough trek.
For the night, we stayed in Tacoronte, which was a peaceful spot to rest after a day of hiking. However, if you're looking for something more convenient and close to more attractions, I’d recommend booking your accommodation in La Laguna. It’s a charming town with a rich history and a lovely vibe, plus it’s really close to Anaga Rural Park and many hiking trails. It’s the perfect base for exploring the northern part of Tenerife, so if you find a good place to stay there, go for it!
😎 Day 5: Benijo to Cruz del Drágulo – Coastal Hike with Scenic Views
Another day, another challenging hike, and this one turned out to be my favorite in Tenerife! Today, you’ll be tackling the 📍Benijo to Cruz del Drágulo hike, which, while still challenging, is a bit easier than yesterday’s. The trail is about 6 km long with a 500-meter elevation gain, and you can complete it in around 3 hours. The hike itself is fantastic, with coastal views that are absolutely out of this world. It’s the kind of hike where you’ll want to stop often to take in the scenery, so don’t rush and enjoy the views at every turn.
Once you’ve finished the hike, head down to 📍Playa de Benijo to relax. This beach is one of the most beautiful on the island, surrounded by dramatic cliffs. Just a heads-up: the waves here can be quite powerful, so make sure to be careful if you plan to take a dip.
After your walk, stop by one of the local cafés or tapas bars for a cozy night out.
😎 Day 6: Easy Hike in Anaga Rural Park-Taborno
After a few challenging hikes, take it a bit easier today and enjoy a more relaxed pace in the Anaga Rural Park.
Start your day with a scenic and easy hike around 📍Taborno Rock, often referred to as "The Matterhorn of Tenerife." This 4 km loop trail is beginner-friendly, with only a 230-meter elevation gain, making it perfect for anyone. The hike can be completed in about 1.5 hours, but keep in mind that parts of the trail run along the edge of the mountain. If you’re afraid of heights, you may find those sections a bit intimidating—but the stunning views make it worth stepping out of your comfort zone.
If you’re looking for another walk, you can head to the 📍Sendero de los Sentidos trail. However, in my opinion, this one is skippable unless you’re after an ultra-easy walk with no views. The trail is more of a sensory experience in the laurel forest, so if you’re craving scenic landscapes, this may not be the one for you. From the starting point of this trail, you can explore alternative routes in the area if you’re feeling up for a bit more adventure.
For dinner, try some traditional Tenerife tapas you haven’t tasted yet. Highlights include papas arrugadas (Canarian wrinkled potatoes) with mojo sauce, fresh seafood, or a hearty ropa vieja (a Canarian stew). End your meal with a barraquito, Tenerife’s signature coffee cocktail made with condensed milk, liqueur, espresso, and a touch of cinnamon and lemon zest—delicious and uniquely local!
😎 Day 7: Relaxing at El Médano Beach
I wouldn’t plan too much for your last day—just head to 📍El Médano Beach, one of the most relaxed and beautiful spots on the island. You can also take a short walk to Montaña Roja for some breathtaking views.
When it’s time to head out, don’t worry—El Médano is only about 10 minutes from the airport. Be sure to arrive in time before your flight, and say goodbye to this amazing island with all the memories you’ve made.
In my personal experience, visiting Tenerife was absolutely amazing—I truly fell in love with this island. There’s just something magical about its landscapes, the people, and the overall vibe that makes it so special. I hope that one day, in the future, I’ll have the chance to call this beautiful place home. 🌴💛
