Do You Need a Visa for Indonesia?

As with most countries, the need for a visa depends on your nationality and the purpose of your visit.

Visa-Exempt Countries: Citizens of certain countries can visit Indonesia without a visa for short stays. For example, travelers from countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and several ASEAN countries can stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days without a visa. The stay is typically non-extendable, so if you plan to stay longer, you’ll need to apply for a visa.

E-Visa: Indonesia has recently introduced an e-Visa system, allowing travelers from various countries to apply online for a visitor visa. The e-Visa is an easy and convenient option for those planning a short stay.

Visa on Arrival (VOA): If you’re not from a visa-exempt country, don’t worry—Indonesia offers a Visa on Arrival (VOA) for travelers arriving by air or sea. This visa is available for tourists and business visitors, and it can be valid for 30 days, which can be extended for another 30 days.

Upon arrival at an international airport or seaport in Indonesia, you can apply for a Visa on Arrival.

Present your passport, complete the necessary forms, and pay the visa fee (around $35 USD). When we did it they only accepted cash, this may have changed by now.
