Cost of traveling in Luang Prabang

Laos is one of the most affordable countries in Southeast Asia. It offers super cheap options for everything.


🏠 Accommodation

Hostels in Luang Prabang can be found at very cheap prices, often around 5 € per day or even cheaper, depending on the season.


Hotels start from 10 € per night, including breakfast for two people.

You can find really good deals in Laos, and hotels are usually quite nice, often offering amazing breakfasts.


🚍 Transportation

There are many transportation options in Laos, none of which are expensive.


You can book shared vans to travel from place to place or even ride the Laos-China fast train, which is really cool.


Once you reach your destination, it's best to rent a motorbike for around 8 € per day to explore the area.


🍽️ Food and dining

The food in Laos is incredibly delicious and cheap.


Once, we had a lunch for only 1 € for two people. The portion was super big, even difficult to finish. Local restaurant prices start from 2 €, and if you wish to have some western food, it can be more expensive but not more than 6 € per meal.


🏰 Activities

In Laos, many activities can be done free of charge.


There are many viewpoints and hiking areas where you might have to pay a small entry fee, usually no more than 1 €.


Tours are also very affordable, starting from 5 € and going up to a maximum of 40 €.
